Every fall, we drive up to Tehachapi to go apple picking. Our whole family really looks forward to it for a number of reasons - hide & seek in the never-ending orchards, searching for only the BEST apples on the trees, each child getting to fill their own bag of apples, the yummy apple treats for sale at the farm stores, sampling dozens of different types of apples (who knew there were so many?), and the boxes and bags of the YUMMIEST apples that come home with us!
The apples we buy in the boxes are some of the best I've ever had, and as big as grapefruits. The apples we pick from the trees are small and perfect for school lunches and snacks. It's such a fun family tradition, one that will continue for many more years!
